“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”
Utah became a state in the late 19th century, and made its presence known with one of the impressive statehouses in the U.S. The impressive marble masonry and ingenious artwork were fully restored in the early 2000s, and can be seen on guided tours every hour on weekdays. Meander down the hill to Memory Grove Park, where monuments to veterans include the Harbour and the Meditation Chapel. Hike along the creek into City Creek canyon and see if you can discern where the 1999 tornado ripped through the park. The hiking trail beyond the park is one of the few places in the city where dogs are allowed off-leash.
