"Hipmunk is the best travel site on the Web. Period."
"Stands out for its fun, interactive and deal-scoring features."
Founded in the 1890s, Eden, a historical area of San Antonio, brims with things to do and see. There are many standouts, but a notable one is the "Garden of Eden," also known by its official name: The San Antonio Botanical Garden.

More About Hotels near Eden...

Escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, and appreciate the garden. Many flowers assumed to not thrive in the dry environment of Texas do and delight visitors. Hibiscus, fruit trees, and rare orchids are among the varieties of plants and trees showcased here.

The Eden area is in the Alamo Heights community, so named by early settler George Brackenridge when he built the mansion Fernridge on land that was part of San Antonio.

Today, the community has the Witte Museum, the Japanese Tea Garden, and the San Antonio Zoo, which encompasses Brackenridge Park--acknowledging the legacy of this industrious settler.

Sightseer Bus Makes Life Easy for Budget Hotel Seekers

A special bus service called Sightseer is available at one price. Bus 7 runs daily among major sites such as the Alamo, the San Antonio Museum of Art, the Botanical Garden, and several others.

Antonia Inn and Suites, Econo Lodge Inn & Suites Downtown Northeast, and Days Inn San Antonio Splashtown/ATT Center are cheap hotels along the N. Pan Am Expressway, which are very near to Eden. Staying at these hotels can also cut down transportation time.

Eden Is a Great Indoor Choice for the Weather Blues

The biggest plus of Eden's Botanical Garden is that visiting is not dependent on weather. It's the perfect activity when rain hits San Antonio, which isn't often, or on a sunny day.

To use the Sightseer bus to its full capacity, vacationers may want to stay near downtown. The Super 8 San Antonio/Downtown Riverwalk or the Sheraton Gunter Hotel will fit the bill.
