More About Hotels near HemisFair Arena...

There's enough to do and see in the cultural heart of San Antonio. Take a walk down S. Alamo towards Alamo Plaza and visit the mythical site of the Battle of Alamo and then turn back towards E. Commerce and E. Market Street to see the where the former HemisFair Arena once was, which has now been replaced with the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.

For hunger pains, an exploration surrounding the park will soon show several restaurants that can please any palate from Italian to Tex-Mex.

Zip Back and Forth on Foot to Reasonably Priced Hotels in HemisFair

All the major tourist attractions are near each other, so getting from place to place is a snap by walking most of the downtown core.

When booking a hotel, choose between historic or modern. Be close to HemisFair Park by staying at the heritage style Hotel Valencia Riverwalk or the equally heritage Riverwalk Vista. For serious history buffs, the Menger Hotel and Crockett Hotel are less than a mile from Alamo Plaza. Certainly being right in the core is further away from the sights along the San Antonio River, yet the most significant attractions like the Tower of Americas and RiverCenter Mall are right in the center, and the view at the top of the Tower of Americas could rival the Empire State Building.

Catching the Full Bloom of HemisFair

Because HemisFair is an urban park area, the ideal time to visit is at springtime. The HemisFair Arena that once showcased the San Antonio Spurs games was sadly demolished once the Spurs moved to the Alamodome. But no fretting, because the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center is a modern marvel of architecture.

There is no time limit, so feel free to step into the Convention Center and take a short walking tour of the facility and then exit on E. Market to reach the park.

A trek through the park under a blanket of trees, outdoor sitting areas, and charming fountains will lead you to the historic buildings of La Villita. Naturally, heading to the Towers of America is essential, especially viewing the city at the Flags Over Texas Observation Deck.
