More About Hotels near University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio...

North Central is handily close to the I-10, the gateway to the Texas Hills and the picturesque hikes of Friedrich Wilderness Park, in a quieter suburb of the city. Taking a drive further can lead to some great shopping in the La Cantera community.

Affordable Hotels Around the University of Texas Health Science Center

Hotel bookings might be a little tricky in this area but your best choice is to stay close to the I-10. It will be easier for transportation options by renting a car or hiring a taxi for day trips -- either getting to downtown or heading towards nature hikes. Staying at a hotel around here is ideal for access to the airport, which is only a few miles away.

A few good hotels are the Baymont Inn & Suites which is accessible off the 410 and crosses the I-10. Or try the Sleep Inn Medical Center, not a glamorous hotel, but very convenient as it's right off of the I-10.

If being slightly further away is the preference and the need for a bit more luxury is in order, try booking at the Omni San Antonio Hotel, or the Drury Inn and Suites has a heated indoor pool and a 24 hour fitness center.

Not a Typical Tour of the University of Texas Health Science Center

Most wouldn't consider a tour of a university worth it, but the campus is 50,000 square miles and borders historic communities Laredo and the Rio Grande Valley.

It's an impressive campus with paths with trees and greenery, fountains, and Spanish influenced architecture in the buildings. Set aside 2 to 3 hours to walk around the Science Center. The most impressive building in the Laredo Regional Campus has a distinctive bell tower and an adobe feel.

The University of Texas Health Science Center itself is known for their worldwide research into the fields of cancer, neuroscience, and transplants. A tour is free to groups, so the best thing to do is book ahead. They do allow individuals to tour inside, but that's a rare occasion, so it's best to grab a friend and go!
