More About Hotels near San Diego State University...

Budget-Friendly Hotels

Since San Diego State is farther inland than most of San Diego, there are fewer options for hotels than you would find closer to the water and the beaches. Fortunately, there are a lot of affordable options for hotels near the school. The Rodeway Inn and Days Inn are both just northwest of the SDSU and are typically less than $80 unless there is a game or event at the stadium. South of the university are more affordable options including the Best Western, which is around $100 per night and near that is the Howard Johnson, which is a little more economical than the Howard Johnson.

Airbnb

There are a few Airbnb options located near the university; however, many of those options are private rooms in an apartment or home. Those options range anywhere from $40 to $100 per night. There are a few studio apartments and homes available to rent near campus but make sure to book early because those options are more limited than the private rooms that are available. Those options are available all year-round, but they fill up quick during football season and near big events such as graduation.

Access to the Stadium

If you are in town to watch the San Diego State Aztecs at Qualcomm Stadium or to tailgate before the game, don’t forget that the stadium is not on campus. The Aztecs play at the same stadium as the Chargers; the stadium is located northwest of campus. Many people either stay at the Rodeway Inn or at the Marriot for the easiest access to the stadium for games.

Qualcomm Stadium

If you’re in town and aren’t interested in seeing the Aztecs play on a football Saturday, there are plenty of other events held at Qualcomm Stadium. Qualcomm Stadium is home to the San Diego Chargers, and many people head out to see the Chargers play during the fall. The Poinsettia Bowl is held at Qualcomm Stadium as well. The stadium also boasts concerts from top musicians all year or at least when there isn’t a football game going on.

There is always a lot going on in San Diego. People come to enjoy the weather, learn to surf, or visit one of the many spas in the area. San Diego State also brings in a lot of visitors to watch the Aztecs take on other Mountain West competitors at Qualcomm Stadium. If you find yourself in the area, you will sure to be able to find a hotel that fits your needs and your budget.
