Hotel Metropolis: Modern Boutique Hotel Near Union Square in San Francisco

What Do the Rooms Include?

Hotel Metropolis is a modern chic boutique hotel that boasts vibrant decor inspired by the elements of fire, water, earth, and wind. It's housed in a restored historic colonial building that dates back to the 1930s. The rooms are unique with brightly colored modern decor, ranging from 200-250 square feet and accommodating 2-4 people.

What Amenities are Available?

Each room is furnished with a Serta Perfect Sleeper bed with plush-top mattresses, down comforters, and pillows. A 32-inch flat-screen TV and a writing desk with complimentary high-speed wireless Internet access are available in every room. There is complimentary tea and coffee hosted in the lobby each morning, and the restaurant on site serves great farm-fresh food.

 What are the Rates Like?

The rates at this San Francisco hotel are very affordable given the hotel's quality. The double rooms with a single bed start at $109 USD, while rooms with two double beds start at $149 per night. Balcony rooms are a bit more expensive but offer great views of Market and Turk Streets.

What’s There to Do Nearby?

The hotel’s location is one of its highlights but also its biggest downside. Hotel Metropolis is located just a few blocks away from the fashionable Union Square, Moscone Center, and the Downtown area. But it's also positioned right on the edge of Tenderloin, a district associated with a large percentage of homeless shelters and low-income housing. Some guest may feel uncomfortable staying in such a location, while others might love its authentic environment and the chance to gain a better understanding of the everyday life of the less fortunate.

What's the Best Way to See San Francisco From the Hotel?

One of the most unusual amenities offered at Hotel Metropolis is access to two Zipcars right at the hotel that guests can rent to explore San Francisco and the surrounding areas.

What's the Bottom Line?

Hotel Metropolis is a great boutique hotel offering affordable accommodation in the heart of San Francisco. It's ideal for travelers on a budget looking to stay close to the Downtown area.

If you’re timid, you’ll hate the neighborhood, but if you’re an intrepid traveler, these are good digs at great prices.
Cool, contemporary and undeniably original, this eccentric hotel is a stark contrast to its Victorian-dominated surroundings.
On a slightly sketchy block just off of Market Street, a few blocks from Union Square, the Hotel Metropolis is ideal for people who dread staying at a boring, corporate McHotel.
