My Activity & Trips NEW!
Boasting a picturesque setting along the shores of San Francisco Bay, Palo Alto lies a little more than 15 miles northwest of San José. A focal point for business in the Silicon Valley, the city is known for attractions such as the Cantor Arts Center and Stanford Theater.
Palo Alto is among the most expensive cities in the country, and this is apparent in rates at hotels such as the Four Seasons and Stanford Inn. A cheaper option is the Travelodge Palo Alto. To keep costs down, you might also choose hotels near Palo Alto, such as Americas Best Value Inn in San Carlos, and the Camino Inn and Suites in Mountain View, which both offer affordable stays in adjacent neighborhoods.
The CalTrain offers easy transportation to San Francisco and San José, with one-way fares costing $3.50 and $5, respectively. In the immediate area, you can choose from pedestrian and cycle paths, local taxis, and the free Stanford Marguerite shuttle bus.
Palo Alto temperatures are comfortable throughout the year, although you may want your trip to coincide with events such as the Summer Jazz Series, the May Fete Parade, or the Elephant Seal tour season.
