Family Hotel Near Jardins

Old Building, New Rooms

A 3.5-star hotel in just outside the downtown core of the city, the Mercure Sao Paulo Alamedas provides quality updated rooms in an older building. On the smaller side with only 88 rooms, it offers standard amenities for its star level, although the fitness center equipment was not upgraded recently and may seem old to many guests. Close to Paulista Avenue, Jardins, and the MASP Museum, it offers a good location for those seeking the city's cultural pursuits.

Modern and Chic

The recent room update added parquet hardwood flooring and modern trendy styling to give the tired building a new look. Families will look forward to free WiFi, daily housekeeping, free toiletries, and limited hours room service from the on-site restaurant. Rooms are offered in three categories: Standard, Superior, and Privilege. All rooms are spacious at a minimum of 32 square feet, but occupancy is only up to two people, except for the Privilege rooms.

Business or Family

Although the hotel caters to family, many guests stay for business. With an on-site conference center, meeting room, and business center, the hotel provides quite a few business services as well. Being located in the financial district, families will notice the hotel is a good mix between family and business guests and services. Families will also enjoy the outdoor pool, fitness facilities, sun loungers, laundry facilities, and sauna. A buffet breakfast is also served every morning for a surcharge.

Lots Nearby

The hotel is located less than two blocks from Paulista Avenue and only an eight-minute walk from the famed Museum of Arts of Sao Paulo, yet a number of other cultural institutes are also within 15 minutes from the hotel including Edicoes Tijuana, Museum of the Institute of Adolfo Lutz, Prof. Carlos da Silva Lacaz History Museum, and the Oscar Freire Science Museum. Ibirapeura Park is a longer walk at 45 minutes and the same time by transit, but offers an idyllic park for walking in the heart of the metropolis.

The Bottom Line

The Mercure Sao Paulo Hotel offers quality updated rooms in a great location for the Arts District of Sao Paulo, although prices reflect the recent renovations. Families may find it hard to book a single room that services larger families and could opt for better suited hotels in the district. Trying to mix business and pleasure works sometimes, but not at this hotel.
