More About Sarasota, FL Hotels...

Visit at Year's End

You’ll get hotel deals in Sarasota if you travel between October and December. Average daily temperatures in the high 70s and 80s ensure it’s still warm enough for swimming, and the rain and hurricanes which plagued the months before should be over. If your heart’s set on a summer vacation, book early to secure affordable rates.

Stay Away from Shore

As a rule, the further back from the shoreline you stay the less you’ll pay. SCAT buses generally make it easy to get from inner city hotels to the beach and other attractions, although they don’t run on Sundays or public holidays. There are also some cheap hotels in Sarasota, Florida, on the beach including Gulfside Motel and Regency Inn & Suites, but you’ll need to book early.

Get Outdoors

Sarasota’s beaches are on Longboat, Lido, and Siesta Keys. Nature lovers can have more fun outdoors exploring Myakka River State Park and Historic Spanish Point.

Cheap Hotels

Sarasota offers a wide range of accommodations with many of them providing great views of the bay while being close to some of the more interesting sights and attractions. It’s no wonder one of the city’s nicknames is “Paradise.”

Knights Inn Sarasota offers a lot of amenities at a low price. Being situated only three minutes away from the international airport and the Ringling Museum of Art, it offers an outstanding location. Seeing as the university is also less than a mile away and downtown is about four miles away, this could be the perfect place to stay. The hotel offers a free daily continental breakfast and WiFi.

If you’re traveling with pets, you may want to consider the Super 8 Sarasota. This chain of affordable hotels offers comfortable, inexpensive rooms and has a solid reputation. As they are part of the Wyndham Rewards program (https://www.wyndhamrewards.com/trec/consumer/home.action), a stay here contributes toward earning free nights or flights.

The Sleep Inn-Sarasota is well rated by its guests, and North Lido public beach is just a short drive away. Rooms are well equipped, and some of them include a microwave and refrigerator. Coffee and tea drinkers will be happy to know that each room has a coffee machine. Other amenities include an iron, ironing table, free toiletries, and flat screen TV with cable channels.

The Best Western Midtown outdoes a lot of their competition by offering a Southern-style breakfast. The pool is open year-round, and there are BBQ facilities available to hotel guests. The smoke-free grounds are only ten minutes from Siesta Beach and five minutes from the beautiful Selby Botanical Gardens.

Just outside the city, in nearby Bradenton, is the budget motel chain Motel 6. Rooms are basic but comfortable, and the hotel has an outdoor pool and laundry facilities. There is a nominal fee for WiFi if you need an online connection during your stay. This hotel’s location is especially good for golf enthusiasts as it’s only a short drive to at least three different courses.

Another good choice for people hoping to hit the links is America’s Best Value Inn. This budget motel has a similar priceto Motel 6; however, it boasts more amenities. This smoke-free property not only offers a free breakfast but free WiFi throughout. Televisions include premium cable channels if you aren’t interesting in sitting outside by the pool or on their terrace. Rooms also have microwaves and refrigerators for increased comfort and to help lower your food costs during your trip.

Airbnb

Many people are discovering the joy of having their own apartment or house while traveling. These properties are often cheaper than hotel stays, especially if you consider the money you can save by preparing your own meals. It's often much more comfortable to stay in even a studio apartment than a small hotel room.

This apartment (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/539733) places you steps away from Lido Beach and local shopping. You are not only close to the beautiful white-sand beach but will have access to BBQ facilities, beach supplies, and even a washer and dryer. There are even bicycles available for rent should you choose to leave the car in the parking lot.

A little further out you’ll find this lovely space (https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/4090813). Located just 20 minutes from Siesta Key and Lido Key Beaches, as well as St. Armands Circle, you’ll also find stores and restaurants nearby. It offers the extra touch of a screened-in patio so you can enjoy a meal or a glass of sweet tea al fresco. If you don’t have your own vehicle, a bus stop is conveniently located right across the street.

For something closer to downtown, consider the Squirrel’s Nest. While staying at this studio, you can walk downtown or enjoy a stroll along the bay. You can also relax on their sun deck situated beneath a 100-year-old live oak tree. On Saturdays, visitors can pick up some wonderful picnic item at the farmer’s market. The studio is also close to a bus stop so having a car isn’t absolutely necessary.

With so many great choices, you may find it difficult to decide.
