More About Hotels near King County/Boeing Field...

Cheap Lodging by the Airport

Due to BFI's proximity to downtown Seattle, travelers have the greatest variety of options and upscale luxury choices for lodging in the city itself. However, if booking a cheap room is important, avoid downtown hotels. Days Inn Seattle South Tukwila not only offers rooms for a fraction of what it can cost to stay in downtown, but it also provides a shuttle to the airport and a number of complimentary amenities including WiFi in public areas, breakfast, newspapers, and self-parking.

There are a number of Airbnb options outside downtown ranging from single rooms to entire homes. The single rooms are generally less expensive than what local hotels charge. Renting an entire home may cost several hundred dollars a night, but it provides comfort and room for those traveling in groups or with families.

No Taxis Curbside

While this regional airport is one of the busiest in the nation, you won't find curbside taxi or car service, so for guests planning on hopping a ride, make arrangements ahead of time. Taxis will cost between $25-$30 into downtown Seattle and the trip could take 20 minutes. The two rental car companies at BFI are Enterprise and Hertz, and booking ahead is suggested.

Very few local hotels have shuttle service from this airport. Some downtown locations my offer shuttle service for travelers who inquire ahead of time.

BFI airport offers free parking for people flying out of the airport. Park in one of the numbered spots and give the number to the airline ticket representative upon check-in.

Eat Before Flying

Food service at this regional airport is limited. There are a handful of retail store including a café and Aviation Book Store. However, there are several great eateries nearby. The Runway Cafe offers hamburgers, sandwiches, and great views of the airport's runways and incoming planes. The Hangar Cafe is a local restaurant known for its brunch. There are also several bars nearby including Smarty Pants, the Blue Grouse, and Georgetown Liquor Company.

More than just an Airport

King County International Airport is also the host of Seattle's annual SEAFAIR airshow featuring the U.S. Navy Blue Angels. In addition to holding these festivities, BFI is home to the Boeing Company's 737 aircraft flight-test program and other Boeing operations. Visit the Museum of Flight at BFI to gain a greater appreciation for aviation history and check out the large variety of aircrafts as well.

Travelers to Seattle may find that BFI, with its smaller facility and its closeness to downtown, fits their travel needs. However, it's important to remember that flying into a regional airport can mean limited flight availability and amenities.
