More About Hotels near St. James Cathedral...

Staying Near the Cathedral

First Hill is located in the middle of the city and overlooks downtown Seattle. The bustling Pike Place Market and other popular Seattle attractions are within walking distance. Due to this prime location, hotels in this area can be expensive. If you want to stay close to the cathedral, it doesn't get closer than the Sorrento Hotel, which is just a few blocks away. Rates aren't cheap, but the proximity to the church is unbeatable. The Crowne Plaza Seattle - Downtown has slightly more affordable rates and it's also within close walking distance to the cathedral.

A less expensive option is The Roosevelt, a hotel that's even closer to Pike Place Market. It's also on the edge of Belltown, a hip neighborhood with lively bars and restaurants.

An Affordable Hotel Alternative

If the hotel prices in the popular First Hill neighborhood don't fit your budget, don't despair. Some private apartments are available as vacation rentals and offer lower nightly rates than nearby hotels. Plus, you get the benefit of a full kitchen, which can help you save big bucks on food.

Visiting the Cathedral

Anyone is welcomed to attend mass, which is offered at least once a day at St. James Cathedral. The church is also open daily for prayer. If you want to experience more than the services, free official tours are offered, but only once a week. The cathedral's staff can arrange a special tour for groups of four or more if arrangements are made in advance.

Dozens of accommodations are within walking distance of the cathedral. If you are staying further away, be aware that there is no free parking during the week, and you'll need to use paid street parking or lots. If you attend weekend mass, you can park for free in several nearby lots. Visit stjames-cathedral.org for more information.
