Founded in 1946, Seoul National University is a research school and Korea’s most prestigious university. The institution has 16 colleges, nine professional schools, and a graduate school. The university has international appeal and offers joint degree programs with institutions like Duke University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Just north of Seoul National University, Hotel Karashy offers city views, a business center, a lounge, and proximity to Seoul Science Park and National Gugak Center. West of the university, the Novotel Ambassador Seoul Doksan boasts a contemporary design, two restaurants, and an indoor pool. Further northwest, the Sheraton Seoul D Cube City Hotel has a full spa, a fitness center, and access to the dynamic D Cube City.
One of the biggest drawbacks of this location is that it’s tough to find a hotel or a guesthouse near Seoul National University. In fact, the closest hotels are more than a one mile shuttle bus ride away. One of the biggest benefits of this area, however, is its relative remoteness on Seoul’s south side, which makes it ideal for visitors who want a break from busy city life.
If you plan to visit Seoul National University by subway, keep in mind that it’s located on Seoul Subway’s Green Line, but the campus is not walkable from the station. Plan to take one of the university’s free shuttle buses from the subway station to your final destination.
