Sweeping Views from the Sky Lounge in the Peninsula Excelsior Hotel

Situated in the heart of Singapore city, the Peninsula Excelsior Hotel is close to Marina Bay, the Waterfront Promenade, Suntec City Mall, and Raffles Place. A premier hotel with 600 rooms and suites, it boasts two towers. The Sky Lounge is on the 22nd floor showing spectacular views of the Singapore River and nearby surroundings. The main attractions of the hotel are its location, with City Hall Mass Transit Station a few steps away, and it’s affordable pricing.

The Excelsior Hotel lobby after a day of exploring will invite you in with warm colors and multi colored comfortable chairs. The Lobby Lounge is a nice place to stop before winding down with a relaxing swim in the outdoor pool. Try the hot sauna to loosen those tired muscles or if your goal is to stay fit while on vacation, working out in the health club can do just that.

The Peninsula caters to business travel too, offering a business center and meeting rooms or ask the hotel to plan a seminar or wedding package.

Affordable Guest Rooms and a Spectacular View

Seeing the Singapore River, the Esplanade, and Fort Canning Hill from your hotel room is breathtaking. The bright colorful evening lights line the city scape. Each room is elegantly designed with beautiful hues of gold and brown. A self-coded safe, cable television, Internet, mini bar, and a coffee and tea maker complement your room. In addition, there’s a tub and shower, bathrobe, makeup and shaving mirror and daily newspaper. The best part is the inexpensive cost of the Peninsula hotel room and there's no charge for children under 11 staying with a parent or guardian.

Of course if you're looking for a hotel in the same price range as the Peninsula Hotel, but in a different place, try The Residence at Singapore Recreation Club different from the Peninsula in that is has an onsite casino but has similar views of the Esplanade at Marina Bay. If you want a real cheap hotel in Singapore, the Victoria Hotel and The Oxford are no frill hotels priced for the budget minded and well under $100.

Places to Investigate While in Singapore

The Peninsula Excelsior is close to Singapore Parliament House, Singapore National Museum, and Boat Quay. Exploring by foot Clarke Quay, one of Singapore's trendiest nightlife spots is just a short 5 minute walk and the adventurous Singapore Flyer, a simulated B737 flight is a 5 minute drive from the hotel. Finally, if you want to shop, there's Orchard Road featuring fashions from the Paris and Milan runways. So, get ready to walk, dance, fly, shop, and dine in culturally diverse Singapore.

The Bottom Line:

The Peninsula Excelsior Hotel is by far the least expensive hotel having the most amenities and nearby attractions, dining, and shopping. The hotel also has on site dining and a cafe, two swimming pools, plus it's a non-smoking hotel and accepts reservations from those 18 or older.

Expert Reviews
The location really is excellent, in the Historic District within walking distance to Chinatown and Boat Quay, with some fantastic views over the city, the Singapore River, and the marina.
The hotel is easily accessible from the financial, shopping, and entertainment districts.
Rough Guide
Really two hotels merged together – as hinted at by the presence of swimming pools at either end, one of which abuts the lobby – and nicely modernized.
