More About Springfield, MO Hotels...

When to Travel

Smithfield enjoys a humid, mild climate year round, ranging from the high 70s and 80s in summer to the low 40s and 50s in winter months. Expect night temperatures to drop about 20 degrees, and be ready for wind, as the National Climatic Data Center records gusts comparable to Chicago, the Windy City.

Transportation

If you're looking for a free shuttle service from the airport, lodge at nearby Best Western, Ramada Plaza, or the La Quinta Inn. Busses run regularly throughout the area from sunrise till 11pm.

Budget Chains

Springfield's numerous budget hotel chains offer stays well under $100 per night, including Motel 6, America’s Best Value Inn, Days Inn, Best Western, Lamplighter Inn and Suites, Super 8 and Quality Inn. Even better – most of them offer free Wi-Fi and breakfast.

Luxury on a Budget

Doubletree by Hilton boasts 3 ½ stars and has very positive guest reviews. Business travelers give it rave reviews for its business center and convenient location. Book last-minute for a great deal under $100.

Walnut Street Inn, a boutique hotel just one block away from historic Route 66, is comparable in price to the upper budget hotels and offers frequent specials and packages, including weekday discounts and holiday promotions.

AirBNB Rentals

If you prefer a more personal lodging, find a room or even a whole house to rent. Four hosts offer a single room for about the price of a Motel 6, or you can find 7 houses for rent at or below $100.

What to See

You’ll have a hard time narrowing down the choices of sightseeing, from the Air and Military Museum, Springfield Art Museum and Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. Take a jeep tram journey through the Fantastic Caverns, the only exhibit of its kind in North America.

Battlefield Mall, one of Missouri's largest indoor shopping areas, boasts 190 stores. If you can tear yourself away from shopping, take the kids to the Dickerson Park Zoo, where they will find animals divided into continents.

If you enjoy a party, come during the end of July or first few days of August for the Ozark Empire Fair – the largest annual event in the Ozarks. Stay nearby for around $50 at the Microtel Inn, Days Inn and Suites, or Super 8.

While you're in town, head to a Springfield Cardinals game at the Hammons Field. Stay within walking distance at the Holiday Inn Express to avoid post-game traffic snarls.

Free Things to Do

If you enjoy an outdoor, active lifestyle, the possibilities are endless. Go mountain biking on the 35-mile Friso Highline Trail, hike through the 2,500-acre Busiek National Forest just 20 minutes south, or take a quiet stroll through the 113-acre Botanical Center at Nathanael Greene/Close Memorial Park. Download its “guide-by-cellphone” tool as you trek to Lake Drummond and Gray-Campbell Farmstead.
