It's a short walk from Harbour Island to the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, the St. Pete Times Forum, the Florida Aquarium, and the Tampa Convention Center. Stroll along the island's western shore to watch the rowing team practice—you might even see a cruise ship or two.
Getting around and exploring Tampa is a breeze. You're within easy walking distance of many of the most popular attractions and restaurants downtown. Tampa's In-Town Trolley Network runs through Harbour Island and rides are just 25 cents. The Trolley connects with the quaint TECO line streetcar system to get you anywhere you want to go in Tampa.
The Westin Tampa Harbour Island sits on the waterfront overlooking the marina with a view of Channelside. Closer to the restaurants and clubs in Channelside, the Tampa Marriott Waterside, the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk, the Floridian, and the Courtyard by Marriott are great options.
Peak season in the Tampa area is May through August, when the area beaches are packed with sunbathers. Harbour Island hosts an evening fireworks display every Saturday night through August. Travelers get the best deals from September through December, before the "snowbird season" begins in January. Tampa is a popular spring break destination, so book early if you plan to join the festivities. The Embassy Suites Tampa is an economical option.
Tampa also attracts heavy crowds in early February each year when the Florida State Fair comes to town. Check for an Airbnb-approved home or apartment if your favorite hotel chains are sold out.
