Nippon Budokan is an indoor arena located in Kitanomaru Park in central Tokyo. The arena was originally built for the judo competition in the 1964 Summer Olympics, hence its name, rendered in English as Martial Arts Hall. The area is a two-minute walk from Kudanshita subway station, and near Yasukuni Shrine. This 140-foot high octagonal structure holds 14,471 people. Fun fact: The Beatles were the first rock music band to perform here!
Hotel Grand Palace offers clean and comfortable guest rooms in the neighborhood of the Imperial Palace and just a 10-minute walk from the arena. Hotel Villa Fontaine Kudanshita is less than half a mile away and offers small, yet clean and budget-friendly guest rooms. Hotel Monterey Hanzomon also offers small yet modern and affordable guest rooms within a 15-minute walk of the arena.
Nippon Budokan is located in central Tokyo, so staying at a nearby hotel will prove convenient not only to guests attending an event here, but also to those who seek a well-located property from which to explore the city. Subway stations are within a few minutes' walk, and other attractions are within walking distance of the arena, including Kitanomaru Gardens.
The schedule of Nippon Budokan events can be found online at the venue's official website. Tickets for upcoming events can be purchased online or in person at the venue.
