“The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.”
The Toronto Islands sit in Toronto Harbor just south of the downtown core. You can only get to the islands by ferry, water taxi, or private boat, so they offer a peaceful car-free oasis in the heart of the city. You can explore the islands on foot or bike, or rent a canoe. Don't worry if you don't bring your own picnic: there are lots of places to buy lunch. Centre Island and Ward Island have sandy beaches, and Hanlan's Point is home to Toronto's only clothing-optional beach.
