Stay in the Heart of Zurich at Central Plaza Hotel

Historic Traditional and Regal Dining

Central Plaza Hotel is an independent four-star hotel right in the heart of Zurich on the River Limmat, only a few minutes’ walk from the central railway station. This historic hotel first opened its doors in 1883, and keeps its traditional stature to this day. Dine like a king on grilled specialties and carefully selected wines in the royal ambiance of the cellar restaurant, King’s Cave Restaurant. The regal decor of heavy golden curtains and blue velvet chairs with art and ornaments gives a truly royal ambiance, while twinkling chandeliers, mirrors, and an ornate fireplace add a touch of romance. Wake up to a delicious buffet breakfast served in the hotel café.

Get a Room Overlooking the River Limmat

This 19th century boutique hotel features Art Deco interiors with designer touches. Each room is partially air-conditioned with a minibar and a Nespresso coffee machine. There is a TV with satellite and free Wi-Fi in every room. The windows have excellent soundproofing, so noise is never an issue. Ask for a river view room for stunning views over the River Limmat and the Old Town. Some rooms are small, but all are well-kept. Corner suites have great views and plenty of space. There are fitness facilities on the first floor, with the latest equipment.

Walk to Attractions

For Zurich, this hotel is as central as it gets. If you’re visiting for leisure, you’ll be walking distance to all the main tourist spots. Easily walk to Bahnhofstrasse, the most famous shopping street in Switzerland, or the charming Old Town to peruse the boutiques, restaurants, and bars while gazing at the stunning medieval and renaissance architectural masterpieces. Stroll to the shores of Lake Zurich, where you can immerse yourself in nature. Take a swim, rent a bike, or hike the path around the lake for an active afternoon.

There is also plenty of culture to absorb in the city centre. Visit the Museum of Modern Art to see collections from the middle ages to present, with pieces from famed artists such as Van Gogh, Rodin, and Monet, as well as notable Swiss artists. Catch an event at the nearby Opera House or Zurich Playhouse for an evening of the arts.

The Bottom Line

The unbeatable location, superior amenities, and highly motivated staff make the Central Plaza Hotel an excellent choice for leisure or business travellers.
