St. Gotthard Hotel — A Modern, Four-Star Hotel in the Heart of Zurich

What do the Rooms Include?

All of the 138 rooms and suites in the St. Gotthard Hotel feature stylish decor with padded walls, luxe drapes, and quality furnishings. Single comfort rooms are a little on the small side at 15 to 20 meters squared, but the low rates make them an excellent value for money.

Choose the Double Deluxe room for a larger bedroom, king bed, and spacious bathroom that comes with double sinks as well as a tub and shower. Suites are palatial in size and come with perks like a Nespresso machine, fruit basket, and sparkling wine. All rooms are decked out with mod cons including Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV, adjustable air conditioning, and coffee-making facilities.

What Amenities are Available?

Opened in 1935, the legendary Lobster and Oyster Bar has rightfully earned its reputation as being one of the finest seafood restaurants in the city. The Lobby Restaurant has a stunning glass dome ceiling and elegant design features which set the tone for a memorable meal. During the winter months, a pianist performs at night, and Zurich's it-crowd enjoys dinner under the stars. The Italian Manzoni Bar has over 20 coffee specialties on the menu, plus apéritifs a selection of Mediterranean snacks.

Zurich International Airport can be easily reached in 15 to 30 minutes depending on traffic. Valet parking is available for a surcharge. A speedy train runs directly from the airport to the nearby Zurich Main train station. Also, concierge can arrange airport transfers.

What are the Rates Like?

Rates for Double rooms start at about $230. The next step up in space and amenities is a Double Comfort room, starting at $270 or so. To bump up to Double Deluxe, expect to pay from $300 to $350.

What’s the Bottom Line?

The hotel is lacking a gym; however, with so much to see and do in the area you probably won't have time to work out. Instead, a qualified masseuse is on hand to ease aching muscles, while a traditional sauna provides a nice secluded space to unwind. Overall, if it's a cheap Zurich hotel in a central location you're after, then the St. Gotthard Hotel is a solid choice for your Swiss getaway.
