Cheap Centrally Located Auckland Hotel

Good Value in Convenient Location

Kiwi International Hotel, a 100% non-smoking property in central Auckland, is at one end of Queen Street, the city’s main shopping area.  The clean, basic rooms range from single rooms without bathrooms to apartments for five with cooking facilities. The hotel has a business center, meeting room, restaurant, and bar.

Nearby Sports Stadium and Entertainment Arena

Eden Park Stadium, largest in New Zealand, is of historical significance. It is the country’s primary stadium for international cricket and rugby events. Home to Auckland Cricket since 1910 and Auckland Rugby Union since 1914, Eden Park Stadium hosted the Rugby World Cup in 1987 and 2011. Vector Arena, with seating for 12,000, is the largest venue for symphony performances and concerts by trending singers and musical groups. Reach the stadium and arena by walking or taking public transportation.

SkyWalk and SkyJump in Nearby SKYCITY

Walk 15 minutes from Kiwi International Hotel to SKYCITY, an entertainment, restaurant, and casino complex with a convention center across the street. Play Bingo at your choice of venues or listen to musical performances while having a drink. SkyTower is the tallest man-made structure in New Zealand. See spectacular scenery from glass-walled viewing areas. Take a SkyWalk on a narrow walkway around the tower’s perimeter. SkyJump off the walkway via a base jump by wire and plummet to the ground.

Single Rooms, Shared Toilet and Shower Facilities

Kiwi International Hotel offers hotel rooms at budget rates. Lodging choices range from single rooms with communal toilets and showers, to rooms for two people with private bathrooms, to apartments sleeping five people. Amenities in the economy single room are single bed, mirror and small sink, coffee and tea maker, desk and chair, wireless Internet access, and central heating. Among the apartment amenities are bedroom with queen-size bed, second room with three single beds, bathroom, kitchenette, Wi-Fi, and central heating.

The Bottom Line

For someone traveling alone who wants to save money on lodging, the single room without a bathroom is a good choice. (The hotel also has single and double rooms with private bathroom.) The apartments are popular with families traveling with children. All rooms are small and clean. The hotel staff is friendly. Noise from adjoining rooms and outside the hotel bothers sleeping guests. Nearby Jucy Hotel has comparably priced hotel-style and hostel-style rooms, but the property doesn’t offer free Internet access and the rooms are dirty.

Lonely Planet
Rooms are compact, old-fashioned and low on frills, but they're clean and well kept, and the location bordering Queen St and Karangahape Rd is very convenient
