Everything at the Hotel Nouvel in Barcelona

Idyllic Location

Location, location, location is the mantra at the Hotel Nouvel. The Nouvel hotel is nestled in the heart of Barcelona close to entertainment venues, high-end shops, and the city’s historic landmarks. It’s also surrounded by amazing monuments. Take a stroll to popular attractions like the Gothic Quarter, La Ramblas, Paseo de Gracia, and the city’s cathedral. Hop on the nearby Plaza Catalunya metro station or bus network for a trip to the beach. For those traveling by air, the Barcelona International Airport is just 30 minutes from the Hotel Nouvel.

A Hotel With History and Cozy Rooms

This modernist Barcelona-style hotel is more than 90 years old. Coffered ceilings, cast-bronze lights, and marble floors are just a few of the old-world features that add to its charm and uniqueness. The hotel’s colors were chosen by the famed painter Roca-Sastre.

Choose from single, double, triple, or junior suites. All rooms are equipped with modern amenities, such as flat-screen TVs, private bathrooms with showers, climate control, telephones, hair dryers, and Wi-Fi. The triple rooms are spacious for families and feature a terrace. The junior suites are the largest and feature beds, desks, sofas, and a balcony overlooking Calle Santa Ana.

Dining at the Hotel Nouvel

The hotel’s on-site restaurant La Luna is set in a restored 1920s dining room fabulously decorated with Art Nouveau lamps, muted orange pillars, crystal chandeliers, and ornate cornices. See the clear blue skies through its glass atrium roof while dining. Buffet breakfast is served in the morning, and delectable Catalan and Mediterranean dishes are served for lunch and dinner.

Popular Attractions and Fun Things to Do While at Hotel Nouvel

Barcelona has five miles of beaches for fun in the sun, sand, and surf. Sant Sebastia, Nova Icaria, and Mar Bella beaches feature a great selection of beachside chiringuitos where you can indulge in some tasty tapas and quesadillas.

Explore Gaudi and modernism at the Sagrada Familia, Park Guell, and La Pedrera. Climb Montuic Mountain for a spectacular view of the city. In addition to the beautiful natural surroundings of the mountain, you’ll find a telecommunications tower designed by Santiago Calatrava, Place Espanya, and buildings from the 1992 Olympic Games.

Keep in mind that Barcelona is a great city to discover on foot. It’s best to skip the metro for at least one day and feel the city beat while walking. Take a walk to and around the lush gardens of the Teatre Grec and stroll to the Fundacion Joan Miro Museum. There are more than 100 sculptures and 200 paintings by this Spanish surrealist painter.

The Bottom Line

This historic hotel offers ambiance from a halcyon era. It’s recommended for those who enjoy a stay in old-world surroundings along with proximity to historic landmarks. The nearby swanky boat hotel Sunborn may offer a sleek new look, but it doesn’t have the alluring charm of the Hotel Nouvel. The Barcelona Universal Hotel also offers cozy accommodations, but it mostly caters to business travelers.
