Lonely Planet
It's hard to stand out as part of a big chain, but the three Greek sisters who own Hotel Tria have pulled it off.
At the check-in desk, guests can choose their own scents from a selection of locally handmade soaps, rather than endure the ennui of yet another industrial, white cake.
This 121-room hotel in northwestern Cambridge, which completed a $10 million renovation in 2009, has clean, modern rooms and lots of great freebies.
Because of its borderline-suburban location, the Tria usually beats other Cambridge hotels on price and has standard rooms as large as some properties' suites.
