Contemporary Waterfront Hotel

Easy Access to Harbor Area Attractions

Copenhagen Island Hotel overlooks the Copenhagen Harbour and offers stunning views of Amager and downtown Copenhagen. The contemporary architecture of this hotel, using steel, light colors, and glass atriums, looks right at home along the Copenhagen waterfront. Farther north along the water, travelers will find the Royal Danish PlayHouse and the Copenhagen Opera House. If you're arriving in Copenhagen by train, the Dybbolsbro station is just one block away.

Scenic Dining and Sightseeing

For a delicious meal in full view of the harbour, dine on site at The Harbour Restaurant. Enjoy a breakfast buffet every morning. For lunch or dinner, sample the à la carte menu that includes authentic Danish cuisine and delicacies. Or stay in the comfort of your room and order a meal from The Harbour by room service.

Watch the sunrise over Copenhagen during your morning workout in the top-floor fitness center. The hotel's concierge staff will be happy to help you arrange a sightseeing itinerary or book guided tours. Rent a bicycle from the hotel and pedal over to the famous Tivoli Gardens or the Stroget district for premier shopping. If you're traveling with children, be sure to explore the nearby Tycho Brahe Planetarium and 3-D IMAX theatre. A bit farther away, travelers will find the famous Little Mermaid statue on Langelinje Pier.

Cosy and Bright Rooms

Rooms at this hotel feature a decor of crisp, clean whites and pops of sea blue and deep reds. While not overly spacious, rooms are well equipped and functional. Connect with the office on the free Wi-Fi or enjoy a night-cap from the in-room mini-bar. Both smoking and allergen-free rooms are available.

Book an executive room or a junior suite for more space and better views. Both of these room types feature private balconies that jut over the water.

The Bottom Line -

While not as close to the central train station and Tivoli Gardens as Imperial Hotel Copenhagen, the Copenhagen Island Hotel offers superior water views and a more contemporary design. However, both the Imperial Hotel Copenhagen and the Copenhagen Island Hotel are similarly priced.

The Marriott Copenhagen is similar to Copenhagen Island Hotel in that it offers harbor views, a fitness facility, a restaurant, room service, and free Wi-Fi. However, the room rates at the Marriott Copenhagen are more expensive and the Marriott Copenhagen is slightly closer to the downtown.

Lonely Planet
Although some rooms are seriously small, they’re all expectantly svelte, complete with sexy Danish-designed furniture.
Rough Guide
With wonderful large windows looking out to the Copencabana harbour pool just outside, you could be excused to think that you’re on a seaside holiday.
Once you're inside, you'll find the place either fascinating or terrifying -- or perhaps a combination of both -- thanks to vertigo-inducing catwalks that crisscross the soaring glass-enclosed lobby.
