Enjoy Historic Copenhagen on a Budget

Cheap Hotel in the Heart of the City Center

Hotel Danmark is a mid-priced hotel located in one of the oldest parts of the city center between bustling City Hall Square and the National Museum of Denmark. This family-run hotel dates back to the 18th century and is within walking distance to the København H Metro Station, providing easy access to the rest of the city. When you’re ready to pack up and leave, the Copenhagen Airport (CHA) is about a 15-minute ride away.

History and Shopping All Within Walking Distance

The area around this three-star hotel has some of the oldest buildings in the city along with charming cobblestone streets. Spend an afternoon strolling around the beautiful Tivoli Gardens, just a five-minute walk from the hotel. Even closer is Strøget, the city’s shopping mecca and one of Europe’s longest pedestrian-only streets. There, visitors will find international chains as well as local favorites, along with many restaurants and cafés. History buffs will have lots to discover at the National Museum of Denmark. Nearby Christiansborg Palace features its famous 106m tower, the tallest in all of Copenhagen, which offers amazing views of the city.

Classic Danish Specialties On-Site

After a long day of sightseeing, unwind at the hotel’s bar, which claims to serve the world’s best gin and tonic. Enjoy a meal at the on-site restaurant, Tivolihallen, which serves traditional Danish cuisine with a contemporary spin, including one of the area’s best open-faced sandwiches. Fresh coffee and tea is available in the lobby all day and a complimentary wine hour takes place each evening between 5 and 6 PM when guests can mix and mingle. The hotel also provides an organic daily breakfast buffet each morning, and when weather permits, serves the buffet on its lovely outdoor patio. Hotel Danmark also has its own sidewalk café, Café Danmark, which serves some of the city’s lowest-priced organic coffee at just DKK 10 a cup.

All rooms come with complimentary Wi-Fi, cable TV, a desk, telephone, shower or bathtub, and luxurious REN skincare products. Budget-minded travelers will enjoy the Single Standard room option, perfect for one guest, or the Dobbelt Economy, fit for two. Other room options include Dobbelt Standard, Dobbelt Superior, and Junior Suites.

The Bottom Line

Hotel Danmark is a great option for guests looking for affordable accommodations, all with a distinct Danish feel, close to the city’s top tourist attractions.
