The Quirky and Grand Castle Rock Hostel in Central Edinburgh

What Are the Rooms Like?

Located an extremely short walk from Edinburgh Castle, the Castle Rock Hostel is an awesome place to stay for visitors who want the affordable hostel experience mixed with a bit of dash and glam. You can choose dormitory-style accommodations that sleep 10, or you can book double, triple, or quad rooms. The rooms are large and spacious, offering spectacular views of the surrounding area. The rooms have themes, so stay in the Jekyll and Hyde room one visit and the Beatles room the next!

What Amenities Are Available?

Linens are included in the room price, and hair dryers are free but require a deposit. Towels are available for about 30 cents each. There's no curfew, making it easy for guests to pop in and out without worrying about getting back in time. If you find yourself running out of clothes, the staff will wash, fold, and deliver your laundry for about $5.50. All guests get private lockers within which to store their valuables.

What Are the Rates Like?

If you choose a dormitory-style room that sleeps 10, you could pay as little as $16 per night. A dorm room with four beds will run you about $22 per person per night. A double room will cost you about $68, a triple room costs about $77, and a quad will set you back $103, making this an affordable option for guests seeking cheap hotels in Edinburgh.

Does the Castle Rock Hostel Offer Bike Storage?

The Castle Rock does offer bike storage, but the staff recommends you use a bike lock as well.

What's the Bottom Line

The Castle Rock Hostel in Edinburgh is one of the most beautiful and comfortable cheap hotels in Edinburgh, perfect for the traveler who's looking for a heavy dose of whimsy, grandeur, and the unexpected when it comes to hostel accommodations. The elegant and quirky yet grand furnishings lend the hostel a luxurious feel in spite of its affordability.
