A Five-Star Boutique Hotel with Ghosts

A Historic Landmark Disguised as a Hotel

If you are traveling to Edinburgh and seek an authentic slice of the city, stay at the The Scotsman Hotel. The name is not misleading here. This property was built upon the former structure housing The Scotsman, a regional newspaper, which moved to nearby Holyrood. In its place, The Scotsman Hotel has been created. It is a five-star boutique hotel that has already been given membership in Historic Hotels Worldwide.

With only 56 rooms, The Scotsman Hotel provides luxury and privacy in a location convenient to most of the city, North Bridge. It is only one block away from Princes Street and the Royal Mile.

Feel Like a Royal

The Royal Mile comprises the body of Old Town, the heart of the town whose roots date back to medieval times. It includes the body of the city’s history, all compacted into a single mile. While visiting Edinburgh, it is the one place you must visit.

A Hotel Teeming with Ghosts

Edinburgh’s residents enjoy cultivating the city’s reputation as being one of the most haunted places in the world. The Scotsman Hotel is one of their favorite ghost stories. According to the locals, multiple spirits including a deceased forger and a haunted printer inhabit the property. If you want an element of excitement on your trip, do some ghost hunting at the hotel.

If you don’t believe in ghosts, the Scotsman Hotel restaurant will at least make you believe in local flavors. The North Bridge Brasserie provides elegant cuisine. Don’t miss afternoon tea, which is so popular that reservations are recommended. If you want a truly unforgettable meal, splurge for Taste of Scotland, a specially prepared five-course meal. All of the ingredients are locally sourced to ensure authenticity.

If you need to work out after all that food, the Scotsman Spa and Health Club is one of the most respected in the country. Do some cardio at the gym then reward yourself with a facial or massage performed by an award-winning specialist.

No Two Rooms Are Alike

A rarity for the hotel industry, this statement is true. In order to protect the integrity of the building, every room is different. Still, all of them include free Wi-Fi, evening turndown service, coffee and tea maker, safe, mini-bar, HDTV with satellite, and a copy of Edinburgh Monopoly.

The Bottom Line

The Scotsman Hotel is one of the most expensive locations in Edinburgh, but it is worth the money.
