Inexpensive Accommodations in the Heart of the Old City

Palatial Charm in a Convenient Location

Find inexpensive rooms at the Hotel Tornabuoni Beacci and take advantage of the savings to go shopping at nearby stores like Ferragamo, Gucci, Bulgari, Roberto Cavalli, and more. While it may not be as fancy as the nearby Hotel Calzaiuoli, this hotel still offers an expensive feel, simple charm, elegant furnishings, and a great value. The hotel is also within easy walking distance of museums and historical churches.

History Lives and Breathes in Florence

The hotel is a short walk from the Basilica di Santa Maria del Fiore, also known as the Duomo. It's one of the largest churches in Italy, and is one of the most popular places to visit while in Florence. The Duomo is also the resting place of two popes.

Guests won't want to miss the nearby Uffizi Gallery. It's connected to the Galleria dell'Accademia di Firenze, the home of Michelangelo's David, along with other pieces made by the artist. It also houses artwork that dates to the Renaissance and newer. The Uffizi is one of the oldest museums in the world, and also one of the most difficult to view unless visitors purchase tickets in advance.

Rooms Furnished with Antiques

The hotel is housed in two Renaissance palazzos that date from the seventeenth century. The rooms reflect the location with the use of furnishings that date from the seventeenth, eighteenth, and nineteenth centuries. Some rooms are decorated with frescoes done in a Renaissance style. Room sizes come in classic, superior, deluxe, junior suites, and suites.  All have modern touches such as satellite TV, flat-screen televisions, Internet access, air conditioning, and minibars.

In the morning, guests can enjoy the breakfast buffet in the rooftop garden. In the evening, have dinner at Harry's Bar Firenze in the hotel, or go to one of the many nearby restaurants offering everything from fine dining to rustic home cooking.

The Bottom Line

The Hotel Tornabuoni Beacci staff is friendly and accommodating to travelers. They provide valuable information on how to get around the city, along with making the stay as comfortable as possible. The breakfast buffet offers continental and Italian dishes to please the tastes of travellers. Rooms are clean, but some may be on the small side. Be sure to secure a room in the main part of the hotel, where rooms are nicer than in the annex.

Expert Reviews
Florentine pensioni don't get any classier than this: old-fashioned style, enough modern comfort to keep you happy, and a 14th-century palazzo.
