Find a Bit of New Orleans History at Melrose Mansion

What Does a Melrose Mansion Room Include?

Rooms are in two locations: in the mansion itself or in the Napoleon House located behind the mansion. All rooms are complete with iPod docking stations, flat screen TVs, and Wi-Fi. Enjoy the luxury bath products and all-marble bathrooms along with 350-thread count sheets. Classic rooms include a sitting area, and contemporary Jacuzzi suites include oversized jetted tubs, sitting areas, and a location next to the pool.

What Amenities Are Available?

The place to be at Melrose Mansion is sitting poolside enjoying the sun and enjoying cocktails. If you're looking for a way to work up a sweat, head to the fitness center open 24 hours a day. A light continental breakfast is included with the room rate, including croissants, pastries, cereal, muffins, and yogurt.

How Much Will a Stay at Melrose Mansion Cost?

The Classic Rooms, located in the Napoleon House, which incidentally are bigger than the Contemporary Deluxe Rooms in the main house, fetch you the best rates. Because of the hot muggy summers, you'll find the best prices during this time with rates starting at $179. Rates also rise on the weekends, with summer weekend rates landing around $289.

What's There to Do Nearby?

Just a mile away from Melrose Mansion is Audobon Butterfly Garden, open 7 days a week. Head out on the Mardi Gras World Tour to find out how Mardi Gras in New Orleans is put on every year. Also nearby is the New Orleans Historic Voodoo Museum.

What’s the Bottom Line?

As one of the oldest hotels in New Orleans, with a history that dates back to 1884, you can really feel the history of the city while staying at Melrose Mansion. Located just outside of the French Quarter, you can enjoy the nightlife without hearing it throughout the night.

Expert Reviews
Although this hotel technically sits outside the French Quarter, it embodies all the character of that famed area.
Located in a quiet residential area on the outer edges of the French Quarter, this upscale hotel is an elegant mélange of renovated Victorian Gothic mansion and modern bed-and-breakfast.
Enter this grandly columned 1854 Victorian Gothic, and rather than antiques and brocades, you’re met with ultramodern, atonal leather furnishings set against stark white 21-foot-high walls.
