Chic Hotel Near Posh Manhattan Shopping

Located in Manhattan's Upscale East Side

The DoubleTree by Hilton is a recently renovated hotel with a historical Art Deco flare. Located on Lexington Avenue near 51st street, the DoubleTree sits in a trendy uptown location between Midtown and the upscale Upper East Side. One of the Lexington Avenue subway stations is just a few blocks away, and Park Avenue and Madison Avenue are within a short walking distance. Central Park is just a few subway stops away, and restaurants line the streets and avenues nearby.

Steps Away from Manhattan's Best Shopping

Eat at the Met Grill or grab evening cocktails at the Met Bar, both located inside the hotel. Ensure you look your best before venturing into Manhattan by visiting the hotel's hair salon. Guests with kids will love the baby-sitting and supervised child activities available. This makes it easier to go out on the town and have a fine meal, or do some serious sightseeing.

With convenient subway access, all of New York's splendor is just a metro ride away from this hotel. Within walking distance is some of New York's best shopping, like Saks Fifth Avenue, Burberry, and Louis Vuitton. A trek a few blocks up Madison Avenue and nearby Fifth Avenue takes you into a shopping mecca. You will find New York's very best, including the famous Bergdorf Goodman, and Manhattan's vast Bloomingdale's department store.

When you're done shopping, check out the nearby United Nations Headquarters. Many foreign consulates have official locations within a few blocks of the UN, so a walk around the area after visiting the UN is always worthwhile.

Comfortable Room Options for Every Guest

The DoubleTree's 764 rooms and suites are clean and up-to-date. Relax into the interior design of brushed steel and earth tones, which combine the hotel's Art Deco flavor with modern accommodations. All rooms cater to the highest comfort levels, with plush bedding and 100 percent smoke-free air. In-room MP3 players and 37-inch flat screen televisions provide entertainment. Room service is available for those who don't feel like dodging through crowds to find food.

Suites offer the same amenities as rooms with added space, which can be a godsend for families visiting crowded Manhattan. Some suites also offer upper-floor balcony views of Manhattan's beautiful city lights.

Guests with accessibility needs will find a host of room options available, with features like lowered surfaces and grab bars. For those traveling with a furry friend, the hotel allows pets of up to 60 pounds with an additional deposit.

The Bottom Line

The DoubleTree recently underwent extensive renovations, so guests are certain to have an experience not found in every Manhattan hotel. Given its recent renovation and its upscale Manhattan location, this hotel isn't the best choice for those looking for a serious budget find. However, for those willing to do a little splurging, the hotel offers many amenities that make staying and getting around in Manhattan easy and pleasant.
