Cheap Portland Hotel

What’s a Portland Pensione Room Include?

The rooms at the Portland Pensione look charmingly spartan with white walls, lovely dark hardwood floors, and some small piece of wall art. Each room comes with a bed, refrigerator, and microwave, which comes in handy if you want to reheat leftovers, or buy microwaveable meals to save on the cost of eating out. There is also a bathroom, curtains, climate controls, and a TV with cable.

What Amenities Does the Portland Pensione Offer?

The only extra amenities Portland Pensione offers are free wireless Internet and extra cots that are available upon request.

What Are the Rates Like?

At the time of this writing, the Portland Pensione is one of the cheapest hotels around. It costs $50 per night for a basic room and $70 per night for a room with a kitchenette. There are other options only slightly more expensive, such as the Econo Lodge Expo Center at $52 per night, but you'd have to look hard to find something cheaper.

That being said, keep in mind there is a tax of 12.5% that will be applied when you check in, so actually be ready to pay about $56 per night. Of course, this tax applies to everyone, so the Portland Pensione is still among the cheapest options.

What’s the Bottom Line?

If you're looking for the cheapest hotel you can find — a place to rest between airplane trips, or a home base for a vacation with a shoe string budget — then you could consider the Portland Pensione.

However, before booking the room, read some of the reviews left by previous guests. It's possible that the hotel has reformed under new management, but it seems many people have been thoroughly underwhelmed by their stay at the Portland Pensione. In the end, it's your decision to make.
