Budget-Friendly Accommodation in the Center of Prague

The Only Hotel of Its Kind

The Cloister Inn is a three-star hotel in Prague reconstructed from a medieval Jesuit monastery dating back to 1660 that the Secret Police occupied during the Communist regime. It is the only hotel in Prague with such a tumultuous and important history. The lobby is bright and inviting, with free coffee and tea in reception area, and computers available for use. There is a complimentary breakfast buffet that offers a varied selection of freshly prepared foods. Although the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, the Stoleti restaurant next door is delicious and offers guests of the hotel a discount.

Comfortable and Quiet Rooms

The Cloister Inn is located on a quiet side street, so the noise level is very minimal. You can’t go wrong with the rooms, they’re all very similar and “basic, but very large,” with big, clean bathrooms. Each room has a TV, free WiFi, and a desk. There is a minibar with free bottled water, daily housekeeping, and a safe to keep your belongings secure.

Stay Close to the Charles Bridge and Old Town

The hotel is conveniently located in Prague 1, close to the Charles Bridge with Prague Castle on the other side, Old Town Square, and the New Town. Feel as though you’ve entered a fairy tale wandering the cobblestoned streets at night, gazing at the mosaics, statues, and intricately detailed architecture shining in the lights. Walk the trails at Letenské Sady Park to get fantastic views over the city, or catch a show at the Rudolfinum, home of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra — just avoid anyone in a period costume selling show tickets; it’s a tourist trap.

Close to the hotel is the Prague Beer Museum where you can sample one of 30 different Czech beers from small and medium breweries around the country. It’s the best way to learn about Czech beer, and the owner changes the menu every three months. Or, head to Letna Park in Prague 7 for a long afternoon of Prague-style beer sipping and take in the views of the city.

The Bottom Line

Guests consistently come back to stay at the Cloister Inn because it is a good value and the staff is exceptionally friendly. You can expect the service to go above and beyond, accommodating your every need; whether it’s a packed breakfast, airport taxi, luggage scale, or tour assistance, the staff is always smiling and cheerful and eager to help.

Just a few minutes’ walk from Charles Bridge, the Cloister Inn is, despite the name, a modern hotel offering large, well-furnished rooms with en suite bathrooms.
Time Out
The Cloister Inn has a lot going for it: attentive staff, great location, good prices and, if you're in need of redemption, a nearby house that's chock-full of nuns.
Rough Guide
Pleasant, well-equipped hotel housed in a nunnery in one of the backstreets; the rooms are simply furnished with modern fittings, free wi-fi, and the location is good.
