Family Owned Boutique Hotel

Downtown Location without the Downtown Noise

Hotel Holt is located in a quiet neighborhood in downtown Reykjavik.  This residential street is just outside the hustle and bustle of the city. Guests can enjoy going into the city during the day, and then come home to a quiet and restful night's sleep. The hotel has been owned by the same family since its opening in 1965. It is home to one of the biggest privately owned art collections in Iceland, and all the rooms feature paintings and art from some of the most famous artists in Iceland. The on-site Galley Restaurant is one of the best restaurants in the area and is run by a father and son team.

Great Location for Sightseeing, Shopping, and Dining

Since the hotel is located right in downtown Reykjavik, it is easy to see all that the city has to offer. Guests can take a short walk to Laugavegur for some shopping or visit Reyjavik City Hall. The City Hall building is on the shore of Lake Tjornin and designed with the purpose of attracting all kinds of birds to town. There is a gallery that always features new exhibits, as well as a huge relief map of Iceland. For those who like to spend time outdoors, a visit to Kaugardalur Valley is a must. Here you can swim in the outdoor thermal pool where the water is warm all year round, or see the animals at the Family Park and Zoo. Spend a relaxing day strolling through the botanical gardens, and stop for lunch at Cafe Flora.

Beautifully Decorated Rooms With All the Amenities

The rooms at Hotel Holt are classically decorated. There are 40 rooms in four different styles to accommodate all types of guests. There is free WiFi available and free wired internet. The rooms all have minibars, LCD TVs, and room service is available. Breakfast is served each morning in the Thingholt function room, and in the evenings guests can relax with a drink at Gamli Bar, or just sit and enjoy the atmosphere in the Library. Other amenities include a fitness room, same day laundry service, and private parking.

The Bottom Line

Hotel Holt is a four-star boutique hotel that offers its guests all the comforts of home and more. The neighborhood location is great for those who want to be close to the city, but who enjoy quiet nights.
