Pestana Rio Atlantica, a Modern and Fun Beach Hotel

Enjoy the Copacabana Beachfront Avenue

Pestana Rio Atlantica is just a mile from Sugarloaf Mountain, a nearly 1,300-foot peak resting on the Guanabara Bay. Hotel visitors can make a short trip to the cable cars to see the rocky cliffs and nature up close. The Pestana is also a great hotel for anyone looking to see the Jardim Botânico, a gigantic garden with hedge mazes, fountains, and countless local flora.

Modern and Elegant Rio de Janeiro Property

It would be ludicrous to stay at this hotel without grabbing a beach towel, lounge chair, and umbrella (all included) for a day of sand, surf, and sun. Another main draw of this independent hotel is the health club, featuring a gym, sauna, spa tub, and massage services.

In many ways, this is a hotel for those who like to stay up at night. Be sure to catch the live musical performances at the lounge. The rooftop pool at Pestana Rio Atlantica offers sweeping views of the beach, mountains, and city. There's a Portugese restaurant on site called Cais de Ribeira, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner on a shaded verandah. When you need to get something done or check your email, WiFi is free both in guest rooms and public areas.

Party on the Rooftop and Sleep in Peace

Clean and contemporary, the guest rooms at Pestana Rio Atlantica don't skimp on the more comfortable features. All rooms come with slippers, bath robes, a minibar, premium channels on a LCD TV, and 24-hour room service. Business travelers who may have chosen the hotel for the meeting room and business center will get good use from the desk in each room, and the free breakfast is perfect after a long day and night of work.

The Bottom Line

Pestana Rio Atlantica is highly rated and affordable considering its many features. Keep in mind, this is not the best hotel for kids; many other beachfront hotels offer areas for kids to play, childcare services, and more for about the same prices. You always pay more with beach hotels, so if you're looking for a similar place and don't need the wide spread of amenities, South American Copacabana is a similar option for lower rates. Wherever you choose to stay in Rio de Janeiro, make sure it's a place that suits your needs and that there isn't a cheaper place that's just as good next door.

Expert Reviews
DK Eyewitness
The views out over Copacabana from this hotel’s rooftop pool are some of the best in Rio. The rooms are welldecorated and all have balconies.
This well-located hotel offers friendly service, a great breakfast and a good location opposite Copacabana Beach, but the real stars of the show are the rooftop pool and bar.
