Hotel Cosmopolita: Ancient Rome at Your Door

Affordable Elegance in the Heart of Historic Rome

The Hotel Cosmopolita is within easy walking distance of some of the most incredible remnants of the ancient Roman Empire. The hotel is very close to the Piazza Venezia, the public square that is the hub of the city. Also in the neighborhood are the famous Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and the shops of the Via del Corso.

So Easy to Enjoy Rome From Here

Don't miss the Cosmopolita's rooftop terrace. When you get tired of the view of Vatican City, you can cross to the other side and gaze at the Vittoriano Monument for a while. Fuel up for your Roman adventures at the hotel's modern Glass Bar & Restaurant. Weekday lunch buffet, afternoon tea, snacks and cocktails are available in this casual, yet elegant setting.

The Cosmopolita offers discounted use of a neighboring fitness center, but why run on a treadmill when you could go jogging in the Roman Forum, just 300 meters from the hotel? If you prefer to walk, stroll among Villa Borghese park's gardens, museums, and fountains, or rent bikes or in-line skates and wheel through the park instead. You can also rent bikes outside the Colosseo Metro station to tour the city.

The front desk can set you up with tickets for an open-top bus tour of Rome, that will get you quickly to all the city's highlights, including the Colosseum, Pantheon, and more. The bus picks up just a few blocks from your front door. Want to go someplace special? Ask the front desk to arrange car service for you.

Choose Your Room

Hotels in Rome tend to have small rooms by American standards, and the Cosmopolita is no exception. But by European standards, these rooms are large and comfortable. The hotel has all the unique charm of an older property, but has been almost completely renovated. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with a rich red-and-cream decor with dark wood furnishings and parquet floors. All rooms have wi-fi, minibars, and blackout drapes in case you need an afternoon snooze to get over your jet lag.

Choose a standard room or, for more space, reserve a superior room. Families can choose a triple room, and cribs are available. Some rooms have tubs, so ask for one when you reserve if that's important to you. If you'd like to step out on your balcony and see Rome bustling beneath you, ask for a room on the street side. If you want quiet, ask for a room on the courtyard side.

The Bottom Line

Hotel Cosmopolita's location, just a few minutes' walk to the Colloseum, puts it in league with pricier hotels, like the Hotel delle Nazione. There are cheaper hotels in the heart of the historic district, like the Hotel Fiori. The Cosmopolita is a good mid-price choice, with beautifully decorated rooms, a great location, a full range of services, and a high-quality breakfast buffet.
