The landmark Phoenix Hotel, a Joie de Vivre Boutique Hotel is known as the renowned "rock'n'roll hotel". Located at the edge of the hardscrabble Tenderloin neighborhood, the Phoenix is within walking distance of the city's hottest nightclubs and the Civic Center's opera house, symphony Hall, civic auditorium, main library and Asian Art Museum. A popular destination for rock and film stars, with its tropical 1950s motor-court architecture, and thatched-roof bungalows, this hotel is a unique place. A central courtyard features a heated pool. Dinner is served at Chambers, a poolside bar and restaurant, and onsite entertainment is provided (schedule varies). Guests can request a complimentary tattoo upon check-in. Retro style guest rooms are spacious and feature a 1950s themed interior with modern comforts. Windows open onto the pool and courtyard area, and guests can expect coffee/tea makers, desks, iPod/iPad docking stations, and 42-inch, flat-screen cable TVs. Complimentary wireless Internet access and designer toiletries are also provided. Each room includes one complimentary parking spot.

If you're looking for a romantic hideaway, the Phoenix is not for you. If you want to party like a rock star, you've found the place.
Time Out
Add funky styling to affordable rates and parking for tour buses in a 'gritty' neighbourhood, then sit back and watch the hipsters roll in.
If you'd like to tell your friends you stayed in the same hotel as David Bowie, Keanu Reeves, Moby, Franz Ferdinand, and Interpol, this is the place to go.
