The Powell Hotel

+1 415-398-3200

Chic Meets Cheap in the City by the Bay

Stay in the Beating Heart of San Francisco

Tucked away on a side road off Market Street, The Powell Hotel is one of the most conveniently located hotels in San Francisco. The hotel is a three-minute walk from the Powell St. BART station and the iconic Market Street Railway cable car line. Drivers can easily reach Powell from I-80 or Highways 101.

The Best of San Francisco is at Your Doorstep

The Powell Hotel is near Union Square and a wealth of other notable attractions. Stay here and you’ll be right across the street from the Westfield Shopping Center, and a short walk from the city’s financial district, theater district, the Yerba Buena Center, and the San Francisco Modern Art Museum. Hop on a cable car to reach tourist favorite Fisherman’s Wharf and colorful Lower Haight within minutes. Also nearby is trendy Nob Hill and the city’s famous Chinatown.

Classic San Francisco Accommodation at a Bargain

Built in 1908, The Powell Hotel oozes classic San Francisco charm. Step into the hotel’s lobby and you’re greeted by opulent marble floors and a magnificent 20-foot ceiling. The 138 guest rooms here also do not disappoint. They feature rich wood furniture with a vintage touch, plush beds with contemporary linens and a pillowtop mattress, a flat screen TV, and complimentary wi-fi access.

The Bottom Line

Few hotels capture San Francisco’s personality better than The Powell Hotel. In addition to its historic features, it’s ideally located, has great amenities, and offers a comfortable place to rest your head at night. However, while affordable for it's ranking, Powell isn’t the cheapest hotel in the area. The nearby Grant Hotel often offers lower rates, but is not as luxurious and is slightly further from major attractions.
