Hoteria Del Mar offers rooms, apartments, and a private beach. The hotel offers 23 rooms on four floors and a terrace. The beach amenities include sun loungers and beach towels. The staff is available 24-hours a day, and a business center with a conference space, computer station, and free Wi-Fi are available. Onsite amenities include a restaurant, bar, and a smoke-free environment. The private beach is a plus, but washes away during the months of July and August. Third- and fourth-floor rooms are quieter.

The hotel is easy to find, and the area sits away from the old section of San Juan. The Ocean Park area is remarkably friendly and picturesque. This is an area of San Juan where everyone is welcome regardless of orientation. There is a lot to do here, and most of it centers around the ocean, beaches, and dining. Expect to find plenty of restaurants, vendors, and activities for families, solo travelers, business travelers, and couples. 

Sand, Surf, and Great Food

There is a good mix of sun and shade along the beaches, where you can try kite-surfing, snorkeling, or people watching. The restaurants in the area are amazingly diverse. The privatebeach in front of the hotel is pleasant and private, while nearby Ocean Park Beach is public not overly crowded. The Campo Rico Ziplining Adventure is a five-minute walk from the hotel, or you can book a guided boat tour of San Juan through Castillo Tours. After a day expliring, try dinner at the Blue Burger Bar or Niche Restaurant.

Comfortable Accommodations

The hotel offers standard three-star amenities. The Sleep Number beds are comfortably set up with Egyptian-cotton sheets and down comforters. All rooms feature climate control, air conditioning, a ceiling fan, LCD TV, blackout curtains, phone, and a safe. Rooms can be adjoining upon request, and are accessed via outside walkways.

The Bottom Line

The best feature of the Hosteria del Mar is the location, as it is the perfect spot for beach activities. The hotel offers plenty of parking that is different from Hotel Miramar where parking is very limited. Hosteria del Mar is a solar building and offers limited hot water. Other than that it is a good, friendly location that sits right on a private beach.
