Secluded Nature Resort Situated Near Berembun Rain Forest

Originally built as a family retreat back in 1984, the Dusun nature resort opened to the public in 2009, and offers spectacular views of the Berembun Rain Forest in Seminyuk. Situated on a 12-acre orchard 500 feet above sea level, the resort offers stunning views from every guest house. The facility's six houses sit far enough apart from each other to provide you with plenty of privacy. To help you maneuver through the difficult terrain around the area, the four-star resort offers complimentary airport and local shuttle service.

Jungle Treks and Infinity Pools

Take advantage of the proximity to the rain forest, and explore the sights with the help of the resort’s guide. Venture on a trek to the jungle’s waterfall and take a dip in the water. You could opt for a more leisurely venture on a two-hour bird-watching excursion. All proceeds for this tour go to the Bird Conservation Council of the Malaysian Nature Society.

To help you stay cool, the Dusun eco resort offers two infinity pools shared by all the houses. Surrounded by timber decking and carved benches, the pools are near the Dusun Perling House and include a children’s wading pool.

Bask in the Stunning Views and Serenity

Once you arrive, staff members take you to your house, and then let you enjoy the solitude. With a maximum capacity of 18 adults for the entire resort, you can benefit from the peacefulness and listen to the sounds of nature from your dwelling. Partake in long conversations with your traveling companion while you gaze out across the stunning landscape. To connect with the outside world, each house comes with a television and premium satellite channels as well as complimentary high-speed Internet access.

Although the resort provides a free traditional Malaysian breakfast, you can cut travel costs by preparing your own meals in the fully-equipped kitchen or the open-deck charcoal barbecue. Included in the kitchenette are basic crockery and spices. Visit one of the local wet markets and pick up fresh produce.

The Bottom Line

The Dusun owners believe in sustainable development pertaining to building and farming, and maintain a strong relationship with the local community. Its employees are local and their activities raise awareness about Malaysia’s heritage and local traditions. Take a step away from the chaos, and support local efforts of this independent, secluded, eco-friendly resort.
