The Porcelain Hotel: The Ultimate Singapore Experience

What Do the Rooms Include?

A unique budget hotel, The Porcelain Hotel epitomizes value for money. Even though the rooms are small, they’re fitted with every possible thing you could need while on holiday, including a minibar, 32-inch LCD television with cable channels, mini-refrigerator, en-suite bathroom, and coffee and tea-making facilities. The hotel’s name is inspired by China’s Tang Dynasty, during which porcelain gained its value after being exported in huge quantities.

What Amenities Does the Porcelain Hotel Offer?

If you’re looking to get a feel of what Singapore was like before it became an economic hub, Chinatown is a great place to be. The Porcelain Hotel will give you access to the many quaint curio shops in the area, with the more developed parts of Singapore still being easily accessible via MRT. The closest MRT transit system is only three minutes away, while the financial district is an easy five-minute drive away.

How Much Will a Stay at the Porcelain Hotel Cost Me?

Rooms start at $120 per night for a standard single room, but even if you’re a solo traveler, consider paying $10 extra to upgrade to the more spacious standard double room at a rate of $130.

What’s the Bottom Line?

Most of Singapore is modern, with skyscrapers dominating the financial and business districts. However, small pockets of heritage do exist, and The Porcelain is located on one such street. Mosque Street is in Chinatown, which is one of Singapore’s most interesting areas to explore. Restaurants, boutiques, and local bakeries dot the quaint streets. The prices you pay here are what you’d expect from an older hotel with fewer modern fittings. There are many such hotels in Singapore’s Chinatown, and each has its own quirks.
