Top Amenities

Love to shop but don’t want to travel too far? The Scandic Kungsgatan is the hotel for you. The hotel is part of the classic PUB department store, the oldest in Sweden. You can take the lift downstairs and literally be in the middle of the shopping action. Its location in Drottninggatan also places you in the middle of the entertainment and culture district. It’s also close to public transport, with the Stockholm Central Station, Arlanda Express, and public buses within walking distance.

Right in the Heart of Stockholm

Overlooking central Hötorget square, the Scandic Kungsgatan is literally right in the heart of Stockholm. Entertainment, shopping, and food options are endless. Entertainment choices within walking distance include the Skansen open-air museum, with its Scandinavian animals and cute farmhouses, Stureplan, home of Stockholm’s glamorous party crowd, Centralbadet, the famous spa center, and an entire museum devoted to ABBA. Still not satisfied? Get on the Arlanda Express, which is 500 meters away, and explore further.

Contemporary Style for All Budgets

Rooms at the hotel come in a range of sizes from the 10 sqm windowless cabin rooms (suitable for budget travellers) to the 55 sqm junior suites with a separate living/study area. The rooms contain contemporary, Scandinavian-style furniture and are comfortable. Room sizes are comparable with other hotels in Stockholm. All rooms have Wi-Fi and temperature controls. Bathtubs are not available in any of the rooms.

For Business and Pleasure

The Lobby bar at the hotel also serves as a restaurant. However, the menu is limited mostly to pizza, snacks, drinks, and coffee. The hotel offers a sizable breakfast and snacks at the shop, but there are so many options available nearby, so it might be best to skip the hotel for food. The hotel has five meeting rooms, four of which seat up to 10 people, and one large conference facility with room for up to 50.

The Bottom Line

The Scandic Kungsgatan is a great hotel for business travellers, shoppers, and those who want to be in the center of everything. While its location inside a shopping center eliminates the need for a sit down restaurant, it compensates for this by being in the heart of the city’s downtown district, where plenty of options exist. This hotel is a little on the pricey side, and there are other options that offer better value in the same neighborhood, such as Frey’s.
