The Vegetarian’s Guide to Food in Burma

With Burma (Myanmar) very much in the news in 2012, I wanted to feature a guide to the country’s food for the vegetarians. I’m not a vegetarian myself, but I found myself eating like one in the country because there were so many creative, delicious dishes to try that didn’t involve meat.

Shannon O’Donnell writes over at A Little Adrift and is a vegetarian. She recently spent a few weeks in Burma with her niece. She’s crafted a thorough guide to eating in the country if you want to avoid meat, divided by dish.

Those of you looking to visit the country might find the food choices overwhelming – there’s a confluence of different ethnicities, all coming together to provide more foods than you know what to do with.
